Read books to make more books!

This July, please join us for the first annual Les Figues Press Read-a-thon! This is your chance to use your summer reading to support independent publishing.

As a nonprofit literary press, Les Figues is dedicated to publishing books that are innovative and exceptional—those same qualities that scare off most commercial publishers. Yet as a decidedly noncommercial press, the sales from any one Les Figues book simply don’t cover its production costs.

You can help by reading for Les Figues! Funds raised in the 2014 Read-a-thon will offset production costs for forthcoming titles like derek beaulieu’s Kern and Amanda Ackerman’s The Book of Feral Flora, both part of the newly launched Global Poetics Series, and the TrenchArt anthology (title TBD). The Read-a-thon will also help keep groundbreaking books in print, such as I’ll Drown My Book: Conceptual Writing by Women. (That one is David Bowie’s favorite.)

Send us pictures of you reading and we'll add them to our queue of famous readers on the fundraising page!

All participants receive a 40% discount on Les Figues books, and there are also special prizes for those readers who raise the most, including a surprise from Sawako Nakayasu, author of recent LF publication The Ants. See all the prizes on our fundraising page!

There are two ways to contribute:

As a reader, you can create your own personal fundraising page and invite your friends and family to support your reading through donations to Les Figues. Your personal page is customizable, so you can keep your sponsors updated on your progress and why Les Figues is important to you.

As a sponsor, you can donate to encourage a general love of reading and ensure the continued viability of a renowned experimental press. Along with the emotional rewards of your sponsorship, Les Figues is a 501 (c)3 organization, so all donations are tax-deductible.

Click here to get started. There are endless books to be read, so join today and get reading this summer!
