Slipknot
Ink on paper, 2006

I’ve met crows everywhere since arriving in 1994 to the Pacific Northwest. They’d be a silhouette without their caw and iridescence. But trudging through a solid color ~ like gleaming green grass ~ crows are omen, haiku, koan. Considered the most intelligent of birds, they mob predators to protect themselves and they mate for life. Crows come to the aid of unrelated crows in distress, yet in plural they’re murder.

Slipknot was intuitively based upon an early draft of one play. I drew two crows finding one another, if for a moment, in memory.
