LFP welcomes Kim Calder and Evan Kleekamp

Les Figues is delighted to welcome Kim Calder and Evan Kleekamp to our editorial team.

As editorial director, Kim Calder will continue LFP’s vision as a mission-based publisher dedicated to creating aesthetic conversations between readers, writers, and artists. In addition to fundraising and managing many of LFP’s day-to-day operations, she’ll be working with LFP’s series editors and managing editors, and our newly established editorial board, to find and publish excellent new works of poetry, prose, and translation.

Kim Calder studies post-1945 American literature and theory at the University of California, Los Angeles. Her work has appeared in The Believer, Jacket2, The Los Angeles Review of Books, The Volta, and Unsaid Literary Journal. She is currently working on two manuscripts: The Nervous System, an autotheoretical work, and her dissertation, which examines the centrality of indigeneity and indigenous cosmologies in contemporary American literatures of resistance.

As managing editor, Evan Kleekamp will be working with our publisher, LARB Books, to handle distribution and mailings. He’ll also be a key contributor to LFP’s marketing and promotional strategies, including our social media and web presence/design.

Both Evan and Kim will be involved in the selection of the annual NOS Book Contest Editors’ Pick, which we’ll be re-launching in 2018.

Evan Kleekamp is a writer and researcher living in Los Angeles. His chapbook 13 THESES ON STATE-SPONSORED BLACK DEATH IN AMERICA was published by Kastle Editions in 2016. Excerpts from his in-progress manuscript Three Movements are forthcoming in Fence and Nightboat Books’s Responses, New writings, Flesh anthology edited by Ronaldo V. Wilson, Bhanu Kapil, and Mg Roberts.

After a period of transition and reflection, we’re looking forward to a future Les Figues animated by Kim and Evan’s energy, vision, and leadership.
